Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel today said the state government would celebrate Women's Empowerment Fortnight between August 1 and August 15.

According to an official release, she spoke about the celebrations during her meeting with members of all women safety committees from across Gujarat at Mahatma Mandir here.

The Gujarat CM said that the government would undertake a statewide awareness drive for women during this period to educate women against issues affecting them, such as domestic violence, harassment of women and other social evils.

Patel asked members of committees to spread the message at their level and provide guidance to women about such issues in their area.

Patel also urged participating women workers to help the government eradicate malnutrition among children by educating anganwadi workers about how to take care of children and their mothers.

She also urged women workers of all committees to educate people about building toilets with government help, so that at least two lakh toilets are built within the next two years.

To rehabilitate women bootleggers and eradicate liquor consumption, Patel asked women workers to work in coordination with the local police.
