Gujarat Governor Om Prakash Kohli today inaugurated a 'Rashtriya Unity Day' function here which was organised to celebrate the 139th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the 'Iron Man of India'.
The event, which was held at Desraj Complex near ISKCON temple in south Delhi, also comprised of a 'kavi sammelan' (a gathering of poets) called 'chetna ke sawar'.
The function was attended by 500 orphan students, who were the special guests, a release by Citizen's Council Delhi, said.

The event was organized by the Citizen's Council Delhi in association with the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Trust and the Chandrawati Choudhary Memorial Trust.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as National Unity Day and also flagged off the 'Run for Unity'.
