Gujarat Republic Day function held in Sabarkantha dist

The 65th Republic Day was celebrated with much fervour in Gujarat, with Governor Kamla Beniwal unfurling the national flag at Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha district as part of the state-level function.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was also present on the occasion in Himmatnagar, the district headquarters of Sabarkantha in north Gujarat, located 80 kms from here.

The celebrations received enthusiastic participation from local people who came out in large numbers displaying national spirit.

Forty-one tableaux, showing themes of various state departments, were presented.

One of the tableau based on the theme of "Statue of Unity" was presented by Narmada and Water Department.
 

The tableau put up by Tribal Development department of the state government received the first prize. It depicted the developmental programmes initiated by the state in the tribal belt from Umargam (in South Gujarat's Valsad district) to Ambaji (in North Gujarat's Banaskantha district).

The youth gave a glimpse of Gujarat's culture through various cultural programmes at Kanknol ground in Himmatnagar even as school students performed Surya Namaskar and Yoga.
