The Gujarat state BJP unit captured the Chhota Udaipur municipality, after 11 members, including five of the ruling Congress, joined the BJP today.

They were welcomed into the BJP by party spokesperson I K Jadeja at party headquarters 'Shri Kamalam' near Gandhinagar today in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel.

Other six members include three from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and three independent candidates.

"Earlier, BJP had four elected members ("nagarsevaks") in Chhota Udaipur Municipality, which has 21 seats. With the addition of 11 more members, we now command a majority with 15 seats," Jadeja said.
