The Gujarat government will set up new police stations and upgrade others for improved law and order, Minister of State for Home Pradipsinh Jadeja said Sunday.
He said permission has been granted to set up sixteen new police stations in 11 districts, each to be headed by an inspector.
Eight existing police stations in as many districts, currently under the charge of sub-inspectors, will be upgraded and headed by inspectors, he said, adding that seven districts will get a new police outpost each.
He said ten new police stations, headed by sub inspectors, will be established in as many districts.
New police stations will come up at Nal Sarovar, Kerala GIDC, both in Ahmedabad, Pragpar, Madhapar, and Mandvi Kodaya in Kutch, Jhojh in Chhota Udepur, Sasan Gir in Junagadh, B Division Dahod, Saraswati (Patan), Mahuva (rural) (Bhavnagar), Balasinor taluka and Lunavada in Mahisagar, and Bardoli (rural) (Surat), among others.
Some of the police stations that will be upgraded and get inspectors to head them are Bavla (Ahmedabad), Babra (Amreli), Khambhat rural (Anand), Nakhtrana (Kutch), Mahemdavad (Kheda), Mansa (Gandhinagar), and Waghodiya (Vadodara), he said.
