Gujarat Minister of State for Consumer Protection, Food and Civil Supplies Chhatrasinh Mori said here today that the state government plans to include a chapter on consumer protection in class six school textbooks.

Addressing an event to mark World Consumer Protection Day here, Mori also hinted at starting online registration of consumers' complaints so that complainants would know the status of their complaints using information technology.

The event was organised by the civil supplies department of the Vadodara district collectorate, the local consumer protection association and other bodies.

"Many state representatives visit Gujarat to learn about the implementation of various provisions of laws protecting consumers interest, since Gujarat has emerged as a model state in the area," he said.

He said that about 2,000 consumers' clubs have been active in Gujarat.
