The delegation, which held a meeting with Energy Minister Jitendra Singh at his residence here, was informed that the state government was "positive" on their demands.

"The meeting with the delegation was positive. I apprised them of the government's stand that it is positive towards the community's demand. Now it is up to Bainsla," Singh told reporters tonight.

Harprasad, a member of the delegation and close aide of Bainsla, said, "We are the messengers of Bainsla. We will share the outcome of the meeting with him in Karauli and he will take further decision."

Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla had yesterday threatened to renew their stir if the Ashok Gehlot government did not respond to the demand for five per cent reservation in jobs for members of the community in Rajasthan till today.

On the other hand, politicians belonging to the community, and who have affiliation with the ruling Congress, held a public meeting in Dausa district's Sikandara area on the issue.

It was organised by SBC Aarakshan Sanyukt Sanchalan Samiti, formed by Attar Singh Bhadana, a former BJP MLA-turned-Congress member.

They demanded that the government expedite the process to accord remaining four per cent (out of the total five) reservation to Gujjar, Banjara, Gadia-Luhar and Raika-Rebari communities for government jobs and educational institutions under SBC (Special Backward Class). (MORE)
