Gujjar leader demands inclusion of Gojri in 8th schedule

Gujjars in Jammu and Kashmir today demanded the inclusion of Gojri language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution.

"We appeal to J&K Governor N N Vohra to approach the Government of India with the recommendation that Gojri language may be included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution", a prominent Gujjar leader of Poonch-Rajouri belt and head of JK Gujjars organisation Shamsheer Hakla Poonchi said today.

Shamsheer said the move would ensure the development and spreading of Gojri language.

He also claimed that the language is being spoken by a very large number of population about 34 lakh of Gujjars and bakerwals in the state.
