Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla and his supporters today called off their sit-in protest after the state government assured cooperation on the issue of reservation for the community.

Bainsla and his supporters began a 'mahapadav' (sit-in) on Sunday to press for the demand of reservation for Gujjars.

"The decision was taken after Bainsla was assured by the state government full cooperation on the reservation issue," Bainsla's aide Himmat Singh said.

Bainsla and his members held meetings with state ministers Rajendra Rathore and Hem Singh Bhadana yesterday and on Tuesday night.

Singh said the ministers assured them that the government would make sure that the case is represented strongly and effectively in the favour of the community in the High Court.

The ministers and the Gujjar delegation in the meeting yesterday also decided to hold a joint meet with legal experts on October 5 regarding the issue.
