A gujjar organisation today asked the state government to create a separate department for proper utilisation of central funds meant for the welfare of the tribal communities of the state.
"We demand creation of separate Administrative Department for Tribal Affairs for proper utilisation of central funds meant for the welfare of Gujjars, Bakkerwals and other tribal communities of the state," President of Bharatiya Gujjar Mahasabha (BGM) Eshfaq-ur-Rehman said in a statement here today.
The government's aim of reaching out to every section of the society and every nook and corner of the state would not be achieved until separate Administrative Department for Tribal Affairs is created, he said.

On the directions of the Planning Commission of India and BGM's persistent demand, the state government had in the past initiated process for implementing a tribal sub-plan, but unfortunately there was no results, he alleged.
A separate administrative department is required for proper implementation and monitoring of tribal sub-plan in proportionate to the population, the Gujjar leader added.
