Gujjars demand restoration of historical monuments

Hundreds of prestigious monuments of Gujjar period are dying a slow death and are on verge of of extinction, Javaid Rahi, Secretary, Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation said in an interaction programme on Gujjar History held here.

He made an appeal to the community members, social organisations, trusts and NGO's to join hands to help restore the old memorials of Gujjar community.

The royal memorabilia of the community located in Rajasthan, Gujrat, Maharashtra, Himachal Pardesh, Delhi, Haryana and adjoining states are portraying vibrant picture of the tribe, he said.

"The Foundation had written a letter to Union Minister of Culture to declare the main forts, temples and coins of Gurjara-Pratihara era as protected monuments of India," he said.
