"We have filed petition against two J&K banks before National Commission for Schedule Tribes (NCST) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI), accusing both for not implementing reservation in recruitments and promotions for schedule tribes of the state at various levels," Javaid Rahi, Secretary for Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation (TRCF), said today.

The petition has been filed by TRCF against Jammu and Kashmir Bank and J&K Grameen Bank, citing that the two banks have failed to implement reservation laws for STs in recruitments thereby violating constitutional obligations and denying safeguards available to the tribal communities.

As per the petition, JKB for last 20 years and J&K Grameen Bank since its inception had filled up hundreds of posts at various levels without providing any reservation to reserved categories especially to the STs.

We have demanded full benefits of reservation for people from the weaker sections like Scheduled Tribes (STs), Rahi said, adding that there was negligible representation of STs especially Gujjars and Bakerwals in the both the banks.
