Noted poet and lyricist Gulzar has penned 'Tarana' (song) for the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) here.
Renowned filmmaker and composer Vishal Bhardwaj has set the song to tune, and it has been sung by Sukhwinder Singh.
The song was launched at a function at the varsity today.
Gulzar, Bhardwaj and Singh were among those present.
Speaking on the occasion, the veteran lyricist talked about his connection with Urdu and how the language had become a part of his identity.
"Tarana is an audio flag (awaz ka parcham) that shall bind the students of the university in the years to come," he said.
