Armed men today kidnapped two senior Pakistan government officials, including a deputy commissioner, after overpowering their security men in the volatile southwestern Balochistan province.
The incident took place near Tump town in Kech district of the province where militants and separatists have carried out brazen attacks on security and government officials and installations.
A senior police official in Quetta, Mir Zubair said the deputy commissioner and assistant commissioner of Kech district in Turbat were kidnapped after the gunmen overpowered their security men.

"They were returning to Turbat after a meeting with Iranian border officials at the border post near Turbat," he said.
"Dozens of armed men stopped their convoy and overpowered the security men and took away the two officials," he said.
The gunmen later allowed the staff and security personnel to go but have taken the two officials to an unknown location, he said.
Balochistan has snowballed into a lawless land with militants and separatists striking at will.
