Unidentified gunmen today killed a man and a woman from the minority Hazara community in Quetta in the Pakistan's troubled Balochistan province.

Police officials said unidentified motorcycle-borne gunmen opened fire at the duo in broad daylight on the busy Spini road in Quetta, killing them on the spot.

"It is an act of target killing," an official said.

However, media reports said the incident was related to "honour killing".

Another police official said the man and the woman had got married recently and were going from Hazara town to Marriabad when they were attacked.

Hundreds of people from the Hazara community, who are Shias by sect, have been killed in sectarian violence in the province in last many years.
