Gur closes steady on sluggish demand

Lethargic conditions showed at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today with prices after moving both ways on scattered buying and selling, ended at last levels.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also settled flat in lacklustre trade.

Marketmen said selective buying and selling activity mainly kept gur prices steady.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,600-3,700, pedi Rs 3,600-3,700, dhayya Rs 3,900-4,000 and shakkar Rs 4,000-4,100.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs N.Q., chakku Rs 3,050-3,350, khurpa Rs N.Q. And Ladoo Rs 3,250-3,300.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,175-3,350 and dhayya Rs 3,400-3,450.
