Prices of gur dhayya today surged by Rs 100 per quintal at the local market here on shortage of stocks.

Other gur varieties, however, closed flat in absence of any worthwhile activity.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets too depicted a steady trend in listless trade.

Marketmen said speculative buying by stockists in the wake of shortage of ready stocks largely pushed up gur dhayya prices in Delhi.

Gur Dhayya prices rose by Rs 100 to Rs 3,800-3,900 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,600-3,700, pedi Rs 3,600-3,700, dhayya Rs 3,800-3,900 and shakkar Rs 4,000-4,100.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,650-2,700, chakku Rs 3,000-3,375, khurpa Rs 2,900-2,950 and Ladoo Rs 3,125-3,200.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,175-3,300 and dhayya Rs 3,350-3,400.
