Gur eases on low demand, adequate stocks

Weak conditions prevailed at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market today as gur prices slipped due to sluggish demand against adequate stocks position.

A similar trend was noticed in Muzzafanagar and Muradnagar mandies on lack of buying support.

Marketmen said easing demand against stocks position on increased arrivals from producing belts mainly led to the decline in gur prices.

At Delhi, gur shakkar fell by Rs 100 to Rs 3,400-3,500 per quintal.

In Muzzagarnagar, gur raskat and chakku slipped to Rs 2,250-2,300 and Rs 2,450-2,750 from previous levels of Rs 2,400-2,450 and Rs 2,500-2,800 per quintal, respectively.

In line with the overall trend, gur pedi in Muradnagar, too shed Rs 50 to Rs 2,600-2,650 per quintal.
 

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,800-2,900, pedi Rs 2,950-3,100, dhayya Rs 3,100-3,200 and shakkar Rs 3,400-3,500.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,250-2,300, chakku Rs 2,450- 2,750, khurpa Rs 2,400-2,500 and Ladoo Rs 2,800-2,850.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,600-2650 and dhayya Rs 2,700-2,750.
