Gur ends quiet in Delhi, Chakku prices up in Muzaffarnagar

Steady conditions prevailed at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today with gur prices moving in a tight range on some activity and settled at previous levels.

On the other hand, at Muzaffarnagar, gur chakku prices improved by Rs 50 per quintal on paucity of stocks.

Marketmen said scarcity of ready stocks due to negligible arrivals from manufacturing belts, mainly attributed to the rise in gur chakku at Muzaffarnagar market.

However, sluggish demand due to off season, kept gur prices flat in Delhi and Muradnagar.

In Muzaffarnagar, gur Chakku prices gained Rs 50 to finish at Rs 3,550-3,650 per quintal.
 

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,800-3,900, pedi Rs 4,000-4100, dhayya Rs 4,100-4,200 and shakkar Rs 4,300-4,400.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 3,300-3,400, chakku Rs 3,550-3,650, khurpa Rs 2,925-2,950 and Ladoo Rs 3,000-3,050.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,700-3,800 and dhayya Rs 3,150-3,175.
