Gur falls on sluggish demand, adequate stocks

Gur prices drifted up to Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today due to subdued demand from local parties and stockists against sufficient stocks.

A similar trend was also emerged at Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar markets.

Traders said weak demand from local parties and stockists against adequate stocks on higher supplies from producing areas mainly dragged down gur prices.

At Delhi, gur dhayya and shakkar prices fell by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,900-3,000 and Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal, respectively.

At Muzaffarnagar, gur laddo also declined by Rs 100 to Rs 2,400-2,500 per quintal.
 

In line with overall trend, gur dhayya in Muradnagar, too ended lower by Rs 50 to Rs 2,450-2,500 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,700-2,800, pedi Rs 2,900-3,000, dhayya Rs 2,900-3,000 and shakkar Rs 3,000-3,100.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,350-2,400, chakku Rs 2,400-2,650, khurpa Rs 2,350-2,400 and Ladoo Rs 2,400-2,500.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,400-2,450 and dhayya Rs 2,450-2,500.
