Gur pedi gains in Delhi, Muradnagar on restricted arrival

Gur pedi prices shot up by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market today in line with restricted supplies amid pick up in demand.

Muradnagar gur markets also showed a rise of Rs 50 per quinal in gur pedi on thin supplies.

Elsewhere, other gur varieties maintained at at previous levels in restricted activity.

Marketmen said tight supplies from manufacturing areas, triggered by speculative buying by stockists and retailers, mainly pushed up gur pedi prices in Delhi and Muradnagar.

In Delhi, gur Pedi prices advanced by Rs 100 to Rs 2,700-2,800 per quintal.

Prices of gur pedi rose in Muradnagar by Rs 50 at Rs 2,300-2,350 per quintal.
 

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,500-2,600, pedi Rs 2,700-2,800, dhayya Rs 2,700-2,900 and shakkar Rs 2,900-3,000.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,200-2,250, chakku Rs 2,250-2,500, khurpa Rs 2,300-2,400 and Ladoo Rs 2,400-2,550.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,300-2,350 and dhayya Rs 2,400-2,450.
