Gur (jaggery) prices firmed up by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following scarcity of stocks amid robust demand.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also registered a hike of Rs 100 per quintal in gur prices on the paucity of stocks amid better offtake.
Marketmen said, reports of lower sugarcane production along with negligible arrivals from manufacturing belts created paucity of stocks in the market, which led to a surge in gur prices.
