Gur prices decline on ample stocks, sluggish demand

Weak trend prevailed at the wholesale jaggery (gur) market in the national capital today as prices drifted due to sluggish demand.

Likewise, Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar markets settled lower owing to sluggish demand amid increased supplies.

Marketmen said low demand against heavy stocks position led to a fall in jaggery prices.

Easy availability of sugarcane and favourable weather conditions for production, weighted on prices, they added.

In Delhi, gur Dhayya lost Rs 100 to finish at Rs 2,600-2,700 per quintal.

While, gur Chakku and Pedi quoted lower at Rs 2,350-2,450 and Rs 2,450-2,500 instead of Rs 2,400-2,500 and Rs 2,500-2,600 per quintal.
 

At Muzzafarnagar, prices of gur Khurpa and Laddoo traded lower at Rs 2,000-2,100 and Rs 2,100-2,200 from Rs 2,050-2,125 and Rs 2,200-2,250 per quintal.

Coming to Muradnagar, gur Pedi prices declined by Rs 100 to end at Rs 2,050-2,100, while Dhayya fell by Rs 50 at Rs 2,150-2,200 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku 2,350-2,450, pedi 2,450-2,500, dhayya 2,600-2,700 and shakkar 2,800-2,900.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket 2,100-2,200, chakku 2,125-2,300, khurpa 2,000-2,100 and Ladoo 2,100-2,200.

Muradnagar: Pedi 2,050-2,100 and dhayya 2,150-2,200.
