Gur prices improve on paucity of stocks

Gur (jaggery) prices firmed up by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following a pause in supplies amid speculative buying by stockists and retailers.

Muzaffarnagar gur markets also showed a rise of Rs 10 per quintal due to fall in arrivals.

Marketmen said, halt in arrivals from manufacturing belts due to transporters strike amid speculative demand from stockists and retailers mainly pushed up gur prices in Delhi and Muzaffarnagar.

In Delhi, gur pedi, dhayya and shakkar prices hardened by Rs 100 each to end the day at Rs 3,400-3,500, Rs 3,600-3,700 and Rs 3,700-3,800 per quintal, respectively.

 

At Muzaffarnagar, gur Chakku rose by Rs 50 to conclude at Rs 2,900-3,000 per quintal.

Gur Raskat prices also remained in the centre of buying activity due to pick up in buying by beer making industries and settled higher by Rs 50 to Rs 2,600-2,6590 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,300-3,400, pedi Rs 3,400-3,500, dhayya Rs 3,600-3,700 and shakkar Rs 3,700-3,800.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,600-2,650, chakku Rs 2,900-3,000, khurpa NA and Ladoo NA.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,000-3,100 and dhayya NA.
