Gur prices surge on paucity of stocks

Gur prices spurted by Rs 150 per quintal in the national capital today on tight stocks following negligible arrivals from producing regions amid increased demand.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also showed a firm trend with prices rising up to Rs 200 per quintal.

Marketmen said fall in production due to hike in mercury supported the upside in gur prices.

In Delhi, gur Pedi prices jumped up by Rs 150 to settle at Rs 3,150-3,250 per quintal.

Gur Chakku, Dhayya and Shakkar prices also improved by Rs 100 each to finish at Rs 3,100-3,200, Rs 3,300-3,400 and Rs 3,400-3,500 per quintal respectively.
 

At Muzaffarnagar, gur Chakku and Ladoo prices concluded higher at Rs 2,750-3,100 and Rs 2,950-3,050 instead of Rs 2650-2900 and Rs 2,750-2,900 per quintal.

Khurpa prices also remained in keen demand, rose by Rs 100 to traded at Rs 2,800-2,850 per quintal.

Turning to Muradnagar, prices of Pedi and Dhayya surged up to Rs 150 at Rs 2,800-2,850 and Rs 2,950-3,000 per quintal.

Following are today's rates per quintal:

Gur chakku 3,100-3,200, pedi 3,150-3,250, dhayya 3,300-3,400 and shakkar 3,400-3,500.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket 2,550-2,600, chakku 2,750-3,100, khurpa 2,800-2,850 and Ladoo 2,950-3,050.

Muradnagar: Pedi 2,800-2,850 and dhayya 2,950-3,000.
