Gur prices surge on scarcity of stocks

In an otherwise steady gur (Jaggery) market, gur dhayya prices spurted by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today following paucity of stocks.

Muradnagar gur market also displayed a firm trend with prices rising by Rs 50 per quintal.

Marketmen said tight stocks following short supplies from manufacturing belts mainly attributed the rise in gur prices in Delhi and Muradnagar.

In Delhi, gur Dhayya prices climbed by Rs 100 to end the day at Rs 3,900-4,000 per quintal.

Coming to Muradnagar, gur Pedi and Dhayya prices rose by Rs 50 each to finish at Rs 3,175-3,350 and Rs 3,400-3,450 per quintal, respectively.
 

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,600-3,700, pedi Rs 3,600-3,700, dhayya Rs 3,800-3,900 and shakkar Rs 4,000-4,100.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,650-2,700, chakku Rs 3,000- 3,375, khurpa Rs 2,900-2,950 and Ladoo Rs 3,125-3,200.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,175-3,300 and dhayya Rs 3,350- 3,400.
