Gur prices up on brisk buying, paucity of stocks

Gur (jaggery) prices surged higher by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on heavy buying amid tight stocks position.

Muradnagar gur market also showed a spur of Rs 100 per quintal on scarcity of stocks.

Marketmen said besides frantic buying by stockist and retailers due to winter season demand, fall in supplies due to adverse weather conditions in manufacturing areas caused the sharp uptick in gur prices at Delhi and Muradnagar.

In Delhi, gur Pedi and Dhayya prices shot up by Rs 100 each to finish at Rs 3,000-3,100 and Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal respectively.
 

Gur chakku prices also hardened by Rs 100 to end the day at Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal.

At Muradnagar, gur Pedi prices also enquired higher by Rs 100 to conclude the day at Rs 2,650-2,750 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,900-3,000, pedi Rs 3,000-3,100, dhayya Rs 3,200-3,300 and shakkar Rs 3,300-3,400.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,400-2,450, chakku Rs 2,625-2,950, khurpa Rs 2,600-2,650 and Ladoo Rs 2,850-2,950.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,650-2750 and dhayya Rs 2,700-2,750.
