In an otherwise steady gur (Jaggery) market, gur pedi prices surged by Rs 150 per quintal in the national capital today following scarcity of ready stocks amid speculative buying by stockists and retailers.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also showed a firm trend and prices rose up to Rs 100 per quintal due to fall in supplies.
Marketmen said paucity of stocks on negligible arrivals from manufacturing belts due to adverse weather conditions mainly pushed up gur prices.
