Gur prices up on strong demand, thin arrivals

Gur prices surged by up to Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market in the national capital today following heavy buying by stockists and retailers coupled with restricted arrivals.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets were also in better form and prices spurted by Rs 150 per quintal on brisk demand.

Marketmen said fall in supplies due to bad weather conditions amid buying by stockists and retailers, mainly attributed the rise in gur prices.

In Delhi, gur Chakku and Dhayya prices advanced by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal.

Gur Pedi and Shakkar prices also gained Rs 100 each to Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal.
 

At Muzaffarnagar, gur khurpa prices quoted higher by Rs 50 to Rs 2,400-2,450 per quintal.

Gur raskat prices were up by Rs 50 at Rs 2,400-2,450 per quintal on increased buying by beer makers.

In Muradnagar, prices of gur pedi enquired higher by Rs 150 to Rs 2,500-2,550 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,800-2,900, pedi Rs 2,800-2,900, dhayya Rs 3,000-3,100 and shakkar Rs 3,000-3,100.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,400-2,450, chakku Rs 2,450-2,575, khurpa Rs 2,400-2,450 and Ladoo Rs 2,450-2,550.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,500-2,550 and dhayya Rs Not Traded.
