Gur surges on festive season demand

Gur prices surged up to Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market in the national capital today following pick-up in demand from local parties and stockists amid ongoing festive season.

Marketmen attributed the rise in gur prices to increased demand driven by festive season.

At Delhi, gur pedi, dhayya and shakker were up by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,000-3,100, Rs 3,100-3,200 and Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal, respectively.

In Muzzafarnagar, gur khurpa spurted to Rs 2,700-2,800 from previous level of Rs 2,500-2,600 per quintal. Laddo also moved up by Rs 100 to Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal.

In overall trend, gur pedi and dhayya in Muradnagar too traded higher at Rs 2,750-2,800 each from previous level of Rs 2,550-2,600 and Rs 2,650-2,700 per quintal, respectively.
 

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs.2,800-2,900, pedi Rs.3,000-3,100, dhayya Rs.3,100-3,200 and shakkar Rs.3,200-3,300.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,650-2,700 chakku Rs 2,400-2,500, chakku new Rs 3000-3100, khurpa Rs 2,700-2,800 and Ladoo Rs 3,000-3,100.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,750-2,800 and dhayya Rs 2,750-2,800.
