Gur up on rising demand

Prices of gur pedi and dhayya firmed up by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (jaggery) at the wholesale market in the national capital today on the back of rising local demand against paucity of stocks.

Gur pedi in Muradngar, also ended higher on stockists buying support.

Marketmen said besides surging local demand, tight stocks position on fall in supplies from growing regions mainly led to rise in gur pedi and dhayya prices.

In the national capital, gur pedi and dhayya rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,300-3,400 and Rs 3,500-3,600 per quintal, ,respectively.

At Muradnagar, gur pedi also edged higher by Rs 50 to Rs 3,000-3,050 per quintal.

 

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,300-3,400, pedi Rs 3,300-3,400, dhayya Rs 3,500-3,600 and shakkar Rs 3,500-3,600.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,200-2,250, chakku Rs 2,850-3,100, khurpa NA and Ladoo NA.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,000-3,050 and dhayya NA.
