Gur weakens on increased arrivals

Gur prices fell sharply by Rs 400 per quintal at the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market in the national capital today largely due to heavy supplies from manufacturing areas against reduced off-take.

At Muradnagar gur market, prices also fell up to Rs 250 per quintal on weak demand.

Marketmen said rising inventories following heavy arrivals of new gur stocks in the markets, mainly led to sharp fall in prices.

In Delhi, Shakkar prices dropped by Rs 400 at Rs 3,100- 3,200, gur dhayya by Rs 300 at Rs 3,000-3,100, while pedi fell by Rs 200 at Rs 2,900-3,000 per quintal.

In Muradnagar, gur Dhayya lost Rs 250 at Rs 2,650-2,700, while pedi enquired lower by Rs 200 at 2,550-2,600 per quintal.
 

At Muzaffarnagar, new arrivals commonced the trading in gur Khurpa and ladoo at Rs 2,500-2,600 and Rs 2,750-2,850 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,800-3,000, pedi Rs 2,900-3,000, dhayya Rs 3,000-3,100 and shakkar Rs 3,100-3,200.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,650-2,700 chakku Rs 2,500- 2,650, khurpa Rs 2,500-2,600 and Ladoo Rs 2,750-2,850.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,550-2,600 and dhayya Rs 2,650- 2,700.
