Taking cognizance of a full two-page advertisement in newspapers without seeking prior permission, the Gurgaon district administration today issued notice to BJP candidate from Gurgaon, Umesh Aggarwal, for alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

He has been asked to reply within next two days.

A full two-page advertisement appeared in papers on Tuesday, in which on one side were some pictures of newspaper clippings while on the other were advertisements in favour of the BJP candidate listing his priorities, an official release said.

The Gurgaon district administration has taken a strong exception to it as Model Code of Conduct has come into force in the state with the announcement of polls and prior permission has to be sought from the District Media Certification and Monitoring Committee for publishing any advertisement or any other publicity material, it said.

The matter also has to be in the knowledge of the concerned Returning Officer (RO) so that the expenditure can be booked into election expenditure of the concerned candidate besides checking that nothing objectionable got printed.

The Gurgaon district administration has raised objections on this advertisement as no permission was allegedly taken from the concerned RO for publishing the advertisement.

The advertisement did not bear any print line which would have otherwise made it clear from which printing press it got printed, which is mandatory under election rules.
