Gurgaon Deputy Mayor booked on rape charge

Gurgaon Deputy Mayor Parminder Kataria has been booked by police after a woman alleged that he repeatedly raped her on a false promise of marriage and threatened her.

According to police spokesman, a case FIR no.27under IPC sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) has been registered on the complaint of the woman against the Deputy Mayor.

Investigation will be carried out as per law, he said.

The victim has alleged that Kataria raped her repeatedly after making false promise of marriage. She also alleged that he along with two others had threatened her of dire consequences if she complained.
 

The accused allegedly lured her with his powerful connections and offered her a job.

Attempts to contact Kataria did not fructify.

Gurgaon Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk told PTI today that the matter is being probed and action will be taken as per the outcome of the investigation.

"If the need arises, he would be arrested," he said.
