Police today rejected a woman's allegation that she was kidnapped by armed men in an SUV after a scuffle with her relatives here.

The woman, Shashi, had claimed she was kidnapped by armed men yesterday after being assaulted by her relatives.

ACP (City) Rajeev Yadav said Shashi and her father presented the case wrongly before the media, with allegations of kidnapping, while they had registered a case of assault against their relatives.

"We have received a complaint by a victim identified as Shashi, 45, being assaulted by her five relatives at Basai Chowk. During investigation, we have arrested two persons, Babu and Mahendra, out of her five relatives from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh," Yadav said.

"Babu and Mahendra along with three other relatives came to visit Shashi's residence in search of their missing daughter. The girl went missing in May from Amroha and in this regard they had filed a police complaint in Uttar Pradesh," he said.

"They suspected Shashi was behind the abduction of the girl and had visited her house on Thursday night following which a scuffle took place between them and Shashi and her husband, in which she received minor injuries," Yadav said.

Her relatives then left for Amroha.

Later, a motorist named Bobby Kataria allegedly shot a "live video" of himself 'chasing' an SUV in which he claimed Shashi was being kidnapped by armed men. He then posted the video on Facebook.

"We are investigating the role of Kataria and will take action against him if he is also found guilty in fabricating the case and misleading the police investigation," the officer said.
