West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today greeted people on Guru Nanak Jayanti and prayed that may the Sikh Guru's teachings enlighten lives.
"Heartiest greetings on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak's birthday. May his teachings enlighten our lives," Banerjee posted on her Twitter handle today.
Guru Nanak Jayanti is being celebrated all over the world today to mark the 546th birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru.

Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Guru Nanak's Prakash Utsav and Guru Nanak Gurpurab, is celebrated in the month of Kartikh (November) as per the Hindu calendar.
Meanwhile, to commemorate the occasion today, the Victoria Memorial Hall in the city put on display a miniature painting of the first Sikh Guru.
The miniature, acquired by the Hall in 1911, was a creation of a non-celebrity artist showing Nanak flanked by two others in the shade of a tree.
Sources said that Hall authorities have planned an exhibition next year showcasing the paintings on Sikhs.
