Gurugram Development Authority (GDA) to be renamed GMDA

Haryana Government has decided to rename the Gurugram Development Authority (GDA) as Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA).

The authority is being established for development of the metropolitan city of the National Capital Region (NCR).

This was disclosed at a meeting of the GMDA, presided over by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here today, said an official release.

The Chief Minister said Gurugram has contributed towards integrated development of the state.

Comprising experts from different fields, the authority will give a major push to quick approval of different kinds of infrastructural and other works at the local level.

Besides, it would also meet a long pending demand of local residents. The authority will help in avoiding overlapping in functional and operational responsibilities and provide functional empowerment in administrative and financial structures at the local level, the release said.
 

A presentation was also made about the draft bill of the proposed GMDA at the meeting which was attended by Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma, Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu, Health Minister Anil Vij and other administrative officials.
