Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung today moved an anticipatory bail prayer in the Calcutta High Court in connection with a case of attempt to murder, the bail in which was rejected by a Darjeeling court last week.

Gurung's counsel moved a Division Bench of the court comprising Justice Jayanta Biswas and Justice Indrajit Chatterjee.

After hearing a plea by the public prosecutor that papers relating to the case were yet to arrive from Darjeeling, the bench fixed the hearing in the case for next Thursday.

The case relates to alleged attempt to murder the bodyguard of All-India Gorkha League chief Madan Tamang who was hacked to death in broad daylight in the hill town while he was overseeing arrangement of a public meeting on May 21, 2010.
