Speaking at a press conference after the chief minister's programme was over, Gurung described his relation with the West Bengal government as 'cordial'.

"Our relations with West Bengal government will remain cordial, but I also want Gorkhaland," Gurung said.

He, however, said, "I did not like some of our party workers raising slogans in a programme when Mamata Banerjee said that Darjeeling is a part of West Bengal."

He, however, took note that those party workers were angry over Mamata's assertion that Darjeeling hills are inseparable.

He said that people here were demanding Gorkhaland as Telangana is likely to be declared as a separate state soon and that the demand for Gorkhaland had been there for the last 105 years.

Gurung criticised district magistrate and principal secretary of GTA Soumitra Mohan for not informing him about programmes where Mamata Banerjee was likely to be present.

He said that GJM elected members were supposed to hand over a memorandum to the chief minister, but could not do so as she left for a programme near Kalimpong.

To a question if he was considering resignation from the GTA in view of the delayed transfer of authority to the GTA by the state government, he said he would consider it at the right time.
