Maharashtra government last month banned the production, sale and storage of gutka and paan masala, both tobacco-based products.
"Gutka worth Rs 1,48,12,610 has been seized so far," said Patil, who handles and Food and Drugs portfolio.
Gutka worth Rs 67,01,139 was seized in Mumbai alone, followed by Nagpur (Rs 33, 01,193) Pune (Rs 18,10,775) and Thane (Rs 14,53,988).
The ban is expected to result in revenue loss of Rs 100 crore per year to the exchequer.
