The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) today seized gutka worth Rs seven lakh, while it was being illegally transported into Mumbai.
The pick-up van, which was transporting the banned substance into Mumbai from Bangalore, was intercepted at Vashi in Navi Mumbai and about 1,000 pouches of gutka worth Rs 7.19 lakh were seized, FDA officials said.

Driver of the vehicle, identified as Shadab Mohin Shaikh from Bangalore, was arrested, they said.
The offence was registered at Vashi police station under the Food Safety & Standards (Prohibition & Restriction on Sale) Regulations, 2011, police said.
The state government has banned the manufacturing, storage, distribution as well as sale of gutka and paan masala.
