Vigilance officials today seized a huge quantity of banned gutkha and chewing tobacco estimated to worth Rs 10 lakh from a godown here.
"A total of 59 boxes of gutkha and 22 boxes of khainee (chewing tobacco) were seized from the godown owned by a businessman identified as G. Kishore," said Vigilance deputy superintendent of police, R. Vijaya Balu.
According to Food inspector Veera Raju, a case has been registered under Food Security Act.
