Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra today advised the ex-servicemen of the state to render voluntary service to the society and contribute towards development of the state.
A delegation of state ex-servicemen led by Wing Commander (Retd) Gyati Kago called on the governor at Raj Bhavan and briefed him on challenges faced by them after their retirement and various avenues of re-employment including in police department.
They also raised the issue of Sainik School in the state, an official communique informed.
Mishra exhorted them to utilize their expertise in different fields with discipline and transparency and to earn the admiration and gratitude of the people.
The Governor asked the ex-servicemen to motivate the youth of the state to join the Indian Armed Forces, which is the most respectable profession in the country.
Mishra stressed on early constitution of the Rajya Sainik Board so that the former members of Indian Armed Forces could avail benefits from the welfare schemes of the Centre.
A delegation of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also called on the governor during the day and shared their concern on various issues, including insurgency and opium cultivation in the State.
In the meeting, the governor appreciated their concern and said that they were the future of the nation and must play their role as catalyst in the progress and development of the society, state and the nation.
"You have a role and responsibility in addressing the social issues," Mishra said and emphasized on the need for utmost discipline amongst the students.
He advised them to spread the message of transparency and accountability in all walks of life, the communique added.
