Guv calls upon voters to exercise their franchise

Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi today called upon voters of all age groups to exercise their franchise for a stronger and participatory democracy.

"Every citizen of India is given the right to exercise his free will, irrespective of class, creed, societal and other affiliations", the governor said on the occasion of National Voters' Day at a function organised by Kamrup (Metro) district administration.

"Outlining the theme of this year's National Voters' Day, 2018 which is "Accessible Elections", the Governor said, "the theme could not have been more appropriate to assess and acknowledge the huge and vital role of the specially-abled electors".
 

The governor also stressed on the importance of ensuring accessibility to the differently abled electors by Ensuring Basic Minimum Facilities (BMF) like wheel chairs, ramps, etc which is only the first step to ensuring "Accessible Elections" .
