Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla and Chief Minister N Biren Singh today felicitated the eight players of the state who were part of India's Under-17 FIFA World Cup team.
During her interaction with the players and their parents, the governor expressed her happiness and said that she feels proud that in the U-17 team the team captain and seven other players were from the State.
The eight players are - Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem, Boris Singh Thangjam, Jeakson Singh Thounaojam, Nongdamba Naorem, Suresh Singh Wangjam, Ningthoinganba Meitei and Md. Shah Jahan

She congratulated the parents for supporting their children to play the game and expressed her desire that all the players continue to play not only for U-17 but also in the senior national team.
Heptulla said every sporting activity is good as it keeps the mind and body healthy and helps in concentration. She said the entire State of Manipur is proud of the players.
The chief minister handed over cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to all the eight players at the state secretariat.
The cash rewards were earlier announced by the state government in recognition to the hard work, achievement and performance of the players.
