Guv presents Veeramani Award for Social Justice to Bhujbal

Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan today presented the K Veeramani Award for Social Justice to Maharashtra Minister for Public Works and Tourism Chhagan Bhujbal at a function here.

The award has been instituted by Periyar International, USA, an organisation set up by the followers of the renowned social reformer from Tamil Nadu, late Periyar E V Ramasamy.

It carries the name of Dr K Veeramani, current President of the Dravidar Kazhagam, the organisation founded by Periyar. The award is given to persons who have made a significant contribution to the cause of social justice and carries a purse of Rs 1 lakh and a citation.
 

Bhujbal donated the prize money to Periyar International.

Dr K Veeramani, Dr S Ilangovan, President of Periyar International, USA, Samir Bhujbal, MP, Pankaj Bhujbal, MLA, were among those present on the occasion.
