Leader of Opposition in Goa Assembly, Pratapsingh Rane today termed Governor B V Wanchoo's address to the House as "superficial" and "like a budget speech."

"As per the parliamentary rules, Governor's speech should talk about the government's achievements in last one year. It should not speak about what you plan to do in future," Rane, one of the longest serving Goa legislator, told the state Legislative Assembly today.

Speaking on Governor's address yesterday during the first day of the session, Rane said, "It was like a budget speech with election manifesto."

"There are superficial efforts made in drafting this document (Governor's speech)," he said.

Rane accused the state government of failing to address woes of the people dependent on mining activity.

No attempts have been made to help the unorganised sector in mining industry which faces the maximum brunt of closure of iron ore extraction activity, he said.

An all party delegation should meet the Union government seeking help in resolving the crisis over the mining industry, he suggested.

The iron ore exports in the state have come to a standstill since September 2012, after Supreme Court imposed the ban to probe the allegations of illegal mining.
