Guwahati, MDM directs tpt officials to cancel licences of

To protect the lives and property of people on the streets of Guwahati city, the Metropolitan District Magistrate (MDM) of Guwahati has directed transport officials to immediately cancel permits of any bus involved in any accident without any hearing and also confiscate the licence of the driver forthwith.

MDM, Dr M Angamathu, as the chairman of the Regional Transport Authority, gave the directions to the District Transport Officer (Enforcement) and DTO (R&L) due to non compliance of the basic rules to be followed by buses leading to various accidents causing irreparable loss of lives and property and creating law and order situations.
 

Stating that Guwahati being the capital city of Assam, it needs to have a systematic approach for making traffic hassle free, the order said "It has been observed that some of the buses do not follow road safety norms and abide by the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988.
