"Memento" star Guy Pearce thinks remaking Christopher Nolan's iconic film is a terrible idea unless the new version is a Tom Cruise-style blockbuster.
In November last year, Monika Bacardi, the boss of film company AMBI pictures, announced her firm would be remaking the 2000 movie, in which Guy played Shelby, a man with memory loss attempting to track down his wife's murderer.
Guy, 48, believes any remake will struggle to capture the groundbreaking spirit of Christopher's time-bending film and producers should ensure the new version is a complete departure from the original, reported Contactmusic.

"You would never attempt to cover a Radiohead song. I don't think covering 'Memento' is a great idea, unless you do the USD 200 million Tom Cruise version and you set it in a whole futuristic world. But there was something about Chris' unique quality that will be hard to supersede," Guy told Britain's Total Film magazine.
Guy has previously joked about the idea of remaking Memento, writing on Twitter, "I wonder why they'd do a remake anyway? I mean we all know how it starts..."
The remake, which movie boss Monika says will, "stay true to Christopher Nolan's vision and deliver a memorable movie that is every bit as edgy, iconic and award-worthy as the original," is yet to receive a planned release date.
