The GVK Group-run Mumbai International Airport (MIAL), which is among those shortlisted to build the airport in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, today said there is a need for regulatory clarity.
"The government should give us a regulatory clarification for airports that are getting privatised and for greenfield airports...Investors would want clarity before bidding," MIAL chief executive Rajeev Jain said on the sidelines of CAPA summit.
Jain said MIAL will be selectively bidding for new projects, subject to the regulatory clarity.

MIAL is among the four firms shortlisted for the greenfield Navi Mumbai airport, scheduled to get operational by 2019. On February 1, the City and Industrial Development Corporation cleared GMR Airport, DIAL, Hiranandani & Zurich Airport consortium and MIA Infrastructure.
MIAL has first right of refusal over the Navi Mumbai Airport project. If rival developer's bid is within 10 per cent of the one quoted by MIAL, then the GVK-group company has the option to increase its bid and win the contract.
Meanwhile, a top official from the upcoming Dholera International Airport today said it has applied for in-principle approval from the civil aviation ministry for the project.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is preparing a detailed survey for the project, which was conceived when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he said.
